About Opal Country

Opal Country is an Australian based business which has the widest variety of ethically mined Solid Australian Opal and Opal Jewellery. We offer custom jewellery with any stone listed on our store as well as a huge range of ready to ship pieces.

My grandparents migrated to Australia from Greece in 1962 and begun working with opal in Coober Pedy. My dad learnt the trade of cutting opal when he was just 14 in the back of his parents’ shop.

Growing up, I was always surrounded by opal. From mining in Coober Pedy to cutting the stones we found. Since leaving school in 2017, I have worked closely with dad, learning to cut opal myself and I recently have taken up the opportunity to learn to make jewellery.

Finally in 2021, I started my own business, selling stones and jewellery online. I love that I am able to work with opal and connect with so many people who share the same passion. I am so grateful to continue my family’s journey after more than 60 years in the industry.
